Mr Khai Lam gave a pre-op management talk at a breakfast meeting in London Bridge Hospital’s Boardroom – St Olaf on Monday, 24th September.
He gave an overview of a case and presented evidence behind SIJ fusion and outcomes. He looked at patient selection for AO Spine. Mr Lam then talked about degenerative disc disease, DDD & ODI. Contraindications include: infections, morbid obesity, osteoporosis, spinal stenosis. He also considered the state of the facet joint as well as the state of the multifus muscle.
Other subjects included: discography and the 5 stages of disc degeneration, Morphological grading on discography, severity of facet degeneration. He also considered ideal and poor candidates. He talked about the xLif procedure, Medtronic then gave a talk about the history and benefits of the O-Arm and the lecture concluded with a talk on rehab by a physio from London Bridge Physiotherapy Department.
Mr Khai Lam is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, who is a member of London Bridge Orthopaedics – who are based at London Bridge Hospital. His special interests are lumbar and cervical disc replacement surgery, sciatica, adult and childhood deformities/scoliosis, tumours, infections, fractures, inflammatory disorders and lumbar cervical injection therapies.
