Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeon

Mr Ahmed Latif is a highly experienced Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeon and a senior member of the specialist foot and ankle unit at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s leading teaching hospitals known for delivering world-class care.

Through his NHS and private practice, Mr Latif combines academic excellence, advanced surgical expertise and a warm, patient-focused approach to help individuals return to comfortable and active lives.

Mr Latif specialises exclusively in foot and ankle surgery and has over two decades of experience treating both straightforward and complex conditions.

His practice focuses on delivering personalised treatment plans that prioritise long-term outcomes, mobility and quality of life.

Mr Latif treats the full spectrum of foot and ankle problems, from common painful conditions to complex reconstructive cases.

Patients frequently seek his advice for:

  • Foot and ankle pain

  • Ligament reconstruction
  • Tendon repair and reconstruction
  • Joint fusion procedures
  • Correction of toe deformities
  • Treatment of cartilage injuries

By using modern surgical techniques, including minimally invasive procedures where appropriate, Mr Latif aims to reduce recovery times and help patients return to normal activities as quickly and safely as possible.

A Specialist Foot and Ankle Surgeon

Mr Latif’s clinical practice is dedicated entirely to foot and ankle surgery, allowing him to offer a particularly high level of expertise in this specialised area.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Cambridge, and was awarded a prestigious National Wolfson Foundation Scholarship to complete a research degree in Experimental Pathology.

He then undertook orthopaedic training in London before specialising in foot and ankle surgery.

He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Orthopaedics from the University of London, based on research conducted across the UK and Europe, and was awarded a national prize by the British Orthopaedic Association for his work.

Mr Latif was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ in 2016 after completing advanced fellowship training in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery.

This focused training means that he regularly treats complex cases referred by other clinicians and provides specialist opinions on difficult foot and ankle problems.

Patient-Centred Care

Mr Latif is known for his calm, approachable manner and his commitment to ensuring that patients fully understand their condition and treatment options.

He believes that good outcomes depend on clear communication and shared decision-making. Patients are encouraged to take an active role in their treatment and are supported throughout every stage of their care.

Each consultation is designed to provide:

  • A clear diagnosis
  • A thorough explanation of the problem
  • Discussion of all treatment options
  • Realistic expectations for recovery

His aim is not only to treat the condition but to restore confidence in movement and activity.

Many patients appreciate his thoughtful and unhurried approach, particularly when facing decisions about surgery.
