Mr Adel Tavakkolizadeh

Consultant Upper Limb Surgeon

Mr Adel Tavakkolizadeh is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon at King’s College Hospital, where he has held a substantive NHS post since 2008. His practice encompasses the full spectrum of shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions, from fractures and tendon injuries to arthritic joint problems and complex soft tissue sports injuries. He offers the latest in minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques, but also takes great pride in his conservative, holistic approach to musculoskeletal care.

Mr Tavakkolizadeh graduated from the Royal London Hospital Medical School in 1995, completing his early surgical training in North East Thames, followed by specialist Plastic Surgery experience and a role at the prestigious Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He went on to complete his Orthopaedic Registrar training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, before undertaking two highly respected fellowships – the first in Sports Medicine and Upper Limb Surgery in Australia, and the second in Upper Limb Surgery at King’s College Hospital.

Known for his calm, considered and patient-centred approach, Mr Tavakkolizadeh is deeply committed to supporting patients through their treatment journey, whether surgical or non-surgical. He works closely with a trusted network of physiotherapists, hand therapists and other allied professionals to ensure seamless rehabilitation and optimal recovery for each individual. His integrity, professionalism and clinical expertise have earned him an exceptional reputation, not only among his medical peers but also with patients, many of whom refer their friends and family to him.

He is widely respected by colleagues across the healthcare spectrum for his collaborative style, and thoughtful clinical judgment. His approachable nature and ability to put patients at ease contribute to the strong rapport he builds in clinic, and he consistently receives excellent feedback from those under his care.

In addition to his busy clinical practice, Mr Tavakkolizadeh is actively involved in postgraduate teaching and surgical education. He regularly lectures and teaches on national skills courses, contributes to regional orthopaedic training, and is a sought-after speaker at international conferences. His research portfolio includes numerous peer-reviewed publications, reflecting his commitment to advancing knowledge and improving outcomes in upper limb surgery.

With a combination of technical excellence, genuine compassion and a team-based approach to care, Mr Tavakkolizadeh is a valued part of the LBO team, offering expertise you can trust, and a standard of care that reflects the highest professional and ethical standards.
