After obtaining the gold medal in the Part III FRCS exam in Orthopaedics and Trauma in 2000, he spent a year in sub-specialist fellowship training at The University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, focusing on knee surgery.
He was appointed as a consultant to Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London in 2002, with his elective practice being exclusively knee surgery.
He is closely involved in training surgeons in complex knee surgery and is an Inter-Collegiate Examiner for the Part III FRCS exam in Orthopaedics, the final examination before trainee surgeons become consultants.
Mr Bliss’ practice involves all aspects of management of knee injuries and he has particular experience in ligament reconstruction and revision knee replacement. He lectures throughout the UK and Europe, has published surgical research and runs numerous courses in knee surgery.
