The Spinal surgeon, Mr Bahram Fakouri, gave an update to a group of city-based physio’s from Central Health at their clinic in Chancery Lane.
A wide range of topics was discussed including spinal stenosis diagnosis and management, medications and epidural injections etc. Various cases were presented and attendees were asked about possible diagnosis. Other topics discussed were cervical myelopathy, cauda equina syndrome, with possible causes such as trauma, tumours and infections. Symptoms could include urinary retention, overflow incontinence and sexual dysfunction. Possible treatment included surgery within 24 hours.
Spinal Metastases was considered in terms of the evaluation of the patient, treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Spondylodiscitis was another area discussed.
